This Process Engineer position offers the opportunity to become a vital member of a high profile, high energy, Titanium Alloy production unit created within a well-established, respected company with decades of industry leading manufacturing performance. Arconic has made a $31 million investment in facilities & equipment over the past 24 months in support of a 7-year contract to provide cutting edge materials to the Aerospace industry. The Process Engineer-TiAl will be responsible for the design, development and evaluation of processes and the equipment used in the production of titanium aluminide materials. A broad knowledge of principles, practices and procedures will be applied to the research process to develop and improve titanium metals and alloys.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Develop and implement processing techniques for producing Titanium Aluminide materials as efficiently as possible;
  • Understand the relationship between the manufacturing process and certain chemistry and thermal mechanical property characteristics;
  • Translate customer, material and internal specification processing requirements into processing instructions suitable for shop floor use;
  • Resolve operational, production and customer metallurgical processing problems;
  • Effectively use writing and verbal skills to communicate metallurgical and processing concepts to customers, operating personnel, other company departments, technical staff and upper level management;
  • Develop written reports summarizing processing trials and conduct trials for future production;
  • Create new conversion instructions for outside processors to effectively and efficiently produce prime product;
  • Gather data relevant to material processing and process trials and perform statistical and other appropriate analysis required to resolve open quality issues and establish process control limits;
  • Develop and implement techniques for improved process control, including risk analysis and risk mitigation;
  • Review, disposition and provide instructions for non-conforming materials;
  • Propose concepts for and assist with new product and process development.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution;
  • Minimum 2 years of engineering experience;
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic Arms in Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee or Refugee;
  • Employee's must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical, Materials or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution;
  • Experience with new process development or start-up facility;
  • Possess strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills for supporting all aspects of the engineering infrastructure;
  • Ability to work and interact effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional team atmosphere;
  • Ability to manage multiple and complex tasks simultaneously;
  • Possess a high level of organizational and prioritization skills;
  • Intermediate to advanced skill level in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook. SAP experience is a plus.
