Job Description

Arconic Cleveland Works is a heavy industrial manufacturing plant which employs approximately 800 people and produces over 60 million pounds of aluminum, titanium, magnesium nickel alloy, and steel forgings. The site produces unique, engineered products in a wide range of configurations, sizes, and tempers for aerospace, military, and commercial vehicle applications.

Working closely with our external payroll provider, the Payroll Coordinator processes all aspects of payroll for approximately 800 employees at Arconic Cleveland Operations.

The Payroll Coordinator will be familiar with the payroll systems and will provide instruction to employees, team leaders, supervisors and managers. The Payroll Coordinator will perform all functions for payroll processing as well as lead efforts to identify and work on process improvements.
 
- Processes special payment batches (i.e. commissions, payouts, severance, retro, etc.)
- Inputs of all payroll data into the HRIS/Payroll system for weekly and monthly payrolls (exempt, non-exempt and hourly employee payroll, bonuses, etc.).
- Ability to receive and respond to pay-related inquiries and issues using discretion while communicating with employees and their supervisors.
- Researches and assists employees with payroll questions.
- Accurately process all Payrolls to meet payroll deadlines.
- Prepares weekly and monthly payroll and any all required reporting.
- Conducts hours and headcount reporting weekly for EHS, Finance and monthly metrics.
- Creating and distributing standard and ad hoc reports to communicate information such as attrition, termination, absences, and headcount analytics
- Responsible for HRIS administration to include new hires, terms and changes.
- Assists with special projects related to process improvements and enhancements.
- Establishes and maintains a positive working relationship with employees and management.
- Oversees the collection of time and attendance data and communicates as necessary on issues related to time and attendance.
- Provides training on time and attendance as required.
- Collaborates with other HR team members on attendance and corrective actions.
- Resolves issues related to weekly and monthly payrolls.
- Demonstrates ongoing knowledge of internal time and attendance system and attendance system (MorningStar).
- Maintains appropriate records and documentation to support all payroll activities.
- Ensures compliance with employment laws including but not limited to ERISA, FMLA, FLSA, ADA, OSHA and COBRA.
- Adheres to strict confidentiality practices.
- Maintains a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Must be organized with strong follow-up skills and ability to stay on top of open items
- Provides customer service to internal and external customers/clients/providers
- Leads or assists with projects or initiatives, including employee engagement and onboarding activities
- Assists other HR team members as needed and/or assigned.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
For this position to be successful, the incumbent should have:
  • Minimum 3 or more years of payroll experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of payroll processing procedures and reporting requirements.
  • Familiarity with payroll, time & attendance systems, & HRIS systems
  • Strong analytical skills with an intermediate to advanced level proficiency in Microsoft Excel, (i.e. vlookups, pivot tables, functions, & formulas)
  • A high level of integrity and ability to work with sensitive and confidential information
  • Ability to multi-task in an environment with sometimes frequent interruptions
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications
For this position to be successful, preference is given to candidates with:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience with Kronos time & attendance systems
  • Experience working in a unionized environment.
  • The ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage multiple competing priorities while maintaining forward motion on critical deliverables.
  • A high degree of interpersonal skills to motivate and influence others, including those not under their direct supervision.
  • Demonstrated problem solving, systems thinking, project management, and team building abilities.
  • The ability to exercise initiative, independent judgment, and sound discretion, especially in sensitive situations.
