Arconic is currently in search of an Operational Buyer – Senior Specialist to join our US Buy and Payment Center (USBPC) within the Global Shared Services group in Pittsburgh, PA. The primary purpose of the position is for responsibilities for advanced and complex buyers.

The functionality includes combinations of:
  • Sourcing and negotiation functions as part of the Arconic Buy and Consolidating Desk (ABCD)
  • Complex metal transactional purchasing including Aluminum Purchasing, as well as the transactional purchasing for Strategic Raw Materials (SRM)
  • Capital buyer functionality including assignment to a capital project by Capital Procurement for sourcing and negotiation
  • Accounts payable knowledge and problem resolution for Strategic Raw Materials.
Major Activities/Key Challenges:
  • Recommend remedies for solving major gaps in Strategic Raw Materials procedures for buying and accounts payable
  • Provide knowledge to suppliers and internal customers on requirements to minimize spend
  • Responsible for compliance within his/her daily work
  • Aluminum Buying expert where 100% accuracy is required given that a small decimal error in price or quantity can cause a problem in the millions of dollars
  • Maintenance of Metal purchasing PO's with strict timely reaction to requests for price changes
  • Strategic Raw Materials transactional buying expert
  • Capital buyer expertise with adherence to Capital Procurement requirements
  • Documentation of daily work including WI's and metrics
  • Owns responsibility for final resolution of any issues that arise out of daily work
Essential Knowledge & Skills/Education:
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to a changing environment
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Willingness to learn and conduct negotiations with suppliers, as well as utilize tools to promote savings for Arconic
  • Working knowledge of SharePoint
  • Expert knowledge of Oracle system Purchasing or other similar systems.
  • Understanding of the requirements for Aluminum, Strategic Raw Materials, and Capital purchasing
  • Understanding and meeting the needs of the business and its processes

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 3 years of purchasing and/or payables experience or related experience.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Highly Proficient skills in Microsoft office Products (Excel and Word)
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Oracle ERP experience
