Arconic is currently in search of Mechanical Technician a to join our Global Rolled Products (GRP) Operations business unit in Davenport, IA.
Since it opened in 1948, Arconic's Davenport, Iowa aluminum facility has been at the forefront of American manufacturing. Nestled on the banks of the Mississippi River in Iowa, the plant employs 2,400 people and is a focal point of the global aluminum industry. Through continued modernization, including a $300 million investment over the past decade alone, Davenport has maintained its position as the world’s premier aerospace supply plant and is today the hub of Alcoa’s $3 billion aerospace business.

As a Mechanical Technician you will provide technical troubleshooting skills to maintenance and operations to restore product flow, as well as provide technical leadership and training to craft employees. 

Job Duties:

  • Analyze equipment and provide technical solutions to recurring design, process and application problems
  • Coordinate and schedule short and long-term outage planning; assist supervisors and crafts in following up on issues and items from the daily management action register
  • Develop, manage and implement small capital projects, major repairs and maintenance projects, and support engineering
  • Design of manufacturing processes and procedures
  • Lead equipment reliability improvements
  • Up-skill maintenance crafts and supervisors to perform equipment tasks
  • Involvement with continuous improvement initiatives of manufacturing methods; work hand-in-hand with craft employees
  • Act as a resource for technical guidance to manufacturing personnel
  • Interact with other manufacturing departments to address and resolve technical issues
  • Adhere to Arconic EH&S, quality, continuous improvement and other company policies
  • Assume other special activities and responsibilities, as required
  • This position will require the candidate to be flexible with hours, and will be expected to carry a phone and be available for urgent issues dependent on business needs 


Basic Qualifications:


  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED) from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with in a manufacturing environment and machine repair
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in mechanical systems and controls utilized in industrial applications
  • Experience with hydraulic systems
  • Experience reading and interpreting schematics (i.e. blueprints/drawings)
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.  ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee;
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
