Arconic is looking for a Mechanical Technician to join the Plate area of our Global Rolled Products (GRP) business unit in Davenport, Iowa.

The Mechanical Technician assigned to the Plate area will provide technical troubleshooting skills to maintenance and operations to restore product flow, as well as provide technical leadership and training to craft employees.
 
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Provides technical solutions to recurring design, process and application problems, and analyze equipment and process data to identify opportunities and develop solutions and system improvements;
  • Coordinate and schedule short and long-term outage planning, and assist supervisors and crafts in following up on issues and items from the daily management action register;
  • Develop, manage and implement small capital projects, major repairs and maintenance projects, and support engineering;
  • Design of manufacturing processes and procedures;
  • Lead equipment reliability improvements;
  • Upskill maintenance crafts and supervisors to perform equipment tasks
  • Involvement with continuous improvement initiatives of manufacturing methods. Work hand in hand with craft employees;
  • Act as a resource for technical guidance to manufacturing personnel;
  • Coordinate and plan departmental jobs;
  • Assist in justification of new equipment;
  • Interface with other manufacturing departments to address and resolve technical issues;
  • Adhere to Arconic EH&S, quality, continuous improvement and other company policies;
  • Assume other special activities and responsibilities from time to time as required;
  • Integrated role as direct support of the Maintenance Organization;
  • This position will require the candidate to be flexible with hours, as hours for this role will be dependent on business needs.

Qualifications


Basic Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED) from an accredited institution;
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with in a manufacturing environment and machine repair;
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in mechanical systems and controls utilized in industrial applications;
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.  ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee;
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working on rolling mill equipment (overhead cranes and gantries Mills, rolls, mill drive components, shears, table rolls, coilers, etc), Aluminum, steel or Paper rolling preferred;
  • Strong maintenance background;
  • Product and process failure analysis and an understanding of world class manufacturing techniques such as lean manufacturing, FMEA, RCM SPC, TQM, etc.;
  • Designing, installing, troubleshooting and maintaining industrial hydraulic and pneumatic systems;
  • Designing, fabricating and installing mechanical equipment;
  • Strong problem solving and creative thinking skills;
  • Strong written and oral communications skills with the ability to work and interact at all levels of the organization;
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams;
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Interpret blueprints from mechanical drawings.
