Job Description:  
The Mechanical Engineer in this role will be part of the plant engineering team, responsible for capital improvements and assisting with production uptime.  This team works closely with production and maintenance to upgrade existing equipment, perform repairs, and install new machinery.  This group also supports the day-to-day operations by serving as a resource for skilled trades and contracted services.
 
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The Mechanical Engineer in this role will be responsible for the capital improvements and assisting with production uptime.    Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Provide high-level technical assistance to production/maintenance personnel during both planned and unplanned equipment service interruptions.
  • This role is off-shift, either 3-11PM or 11PM-7AM.
  • Apply root cause problem solving techniques to find and eliminate sources of recurring equipment failures through creative, cost-effective solutions
  • Work with other plant departments to identify, investigate feasibility, and/or create business cases to acquire funding for capital projects
  • Manage capital projects from conception to commissioning, startup, and handover phases, including equipment supplier/contractor selection and business (BU) level procurement interaction
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation (drawings, preventative maintenance procedures, start-up/shutdown procedures, etc.) for new and existing processes and procedures in the assigned work area
  • Observe and support plant safety goals and initiatives
 
 
 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution.
  • Experience troubleshooting industrial equipment in a manufacturing setting
  • Proficient in 2D/3D modeling software (such as: AutoCAD, Solidworks and/or other applicable modeling software)
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.  ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated effective communication, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.  
  • 2-10 years engineering experience supporting manufacturing equipment. 
  • Experience managing capital projects and demonstrated strong organizational skills
  • Experience with industrial robots.
