Job Description

The principle emphasis is directed at supporting the Pimalco Operations objectives of sustaining operations, optimizing processes or equipment and implementation of capital improvements or additions. These include:

  • Taking a leading role in defining, analyzing, proposing and implementing solutions to technical problems relating to production facilities
  • Managing capital and mechanical engineering projects.
  • Accurately preparing cost estimates, evaluating economics, requests for authorization and requests for funds with minimal direction.
  • Monitoring the business and technical environment to anticipate technology opportunities. Initiating, defining, and leading technical projects to address these opportunities.
  • Planning projects and coordinating installation with plant maintenance, production groups, and outside contractors.
  • Establishing project objectives, tactics, and plans.
  • Developing safe, practical equipment designs and specifications.
  • Obtaining material by evaluating quotations, writing requisitions and coordinating timely delivery to meet installation target dates.
  • Providing technical supervision of installations and startup of new or revised equipment.
  • Collaborating on projects, reaching beyond traditional engineering responsibilities, to assist others as necessary to achieve goals.
  • Fostering collaborative relationships within and between organizations, project teams, and work groups, and with customers and suppliers.
  • Fostering technical growth in others and mentoring others in field of expertise.
  • Leading groups of engineers and technicians or multi-disciplinary teams.


Basic Qualifications

•B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
•Minimum 3 years experience as a Mechanical Engineer in a manufacturing environment
•This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'),Political Asylee, or Refugee.
•Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.


Preferred Qualifications

•Expert knowledge of mechanical drive systems and hydraulic/pneumatic systems, AutoCAD required.
•Experience developing safe, practical equipment designs and specifications
•Experience planning projects and coordinating installation and start up for new or revised equipment
•Experience with providing project management, technical oversight, and project follow-up on mechanical and capital projects
•Ability to develop and sell a concept/project for plant improvement
•Strong oral and written communication skills
•Effective project management and team leadership skills
•Ability to mentor and influence
