Arconic is currently in search of a Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Davenport, Iowa.

Since it opened in 1948, Arconic’s Davenport aluminum facility has been at the forefront of American manufacturing. Nestled on the banks of the Mississippi River in Iowa, the plant employs over 2,500 people and is a focal point of the global aluminum industry, with 20 percent of revenues coming from exports. Through continued modernization, including a $300 million investment to increase automotive sheet production, Davenport has maintained its position as the world’s premier aerospace supply plant and is today a hub of Arconic’s $4 billion aerospace business.

The Mechanical Engineer  is responsible for a wide variety of manufacturing process and mechanical engineering activities for  a specific production department assigned.   In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible (but not limited to) the following: 
  • Coordinate and implement Lean Manufacturing principles across the departments material flow paths; must gain a complete view and understanding of the areas manufacturing production centers and processes 
  • Focus on tactical projects in the areas of safety, recovery improvement, machine reliability, training, and production
  • Utilize project management tools for coordinating efforts on process improvements, including capital improvement and sustaining projects; will support and lead the execution of problem solving efforts related to process and machine improvements
  • Although this position is primarily a daytime shiftsM-F, it is expected that off-shifts and/or weekends support will be provided as function of this role 


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.  ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 or more years of experience interpreting design of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and /or utility systems
  • 1 year or more experience (including internships) in a manufacturing environment, metals industry highly preferred
  • Hands-on shop experience
  • Motion control understanding in electro-mechanical and electro-hydraulic systems & ability to troubleshoot
  • Working knowledge fits and tolerances (such as: GD&T)
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills with the ability to interact and work well with  all levels of an organization
  • Strong business and computer skills (from educational background and/or manufacturing experience)
