Job Description

Arconic Engines Cleveland Operations - Tempcraft located at 3960 S. Marginal Rd., Cleveland, OH has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Designer in our Tooling Business Center. 
Arconic Engines is a world-class producer of aero engine and industrial gas turbine components, including airfoils, rings, disks and forgings. We excel in vacuum melted superalloys, machining, performance coatings and hot isostatic pressing for high performance parts that enable the next-generation of quieter, more fuel-efficient aero engines and cleaner power generation.
This position is responsible for the mechanical design of molds and dies. The individual may work independently or as part of a design team to satisfy customer requirements. Results include a completely designed product in the form of CAD models, design drawings, and ancillary documentation necessary for the manufacture of the product internally or by external supplier.
 
 


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


 
•         Interprets customer specifications provided.
•         Creates 3-D solid CAD models of die to meet customer specifications.
•         Creates fully annotated engineering design drawings for manufacture of product.
•         Meets with customer Product Engineers and Design Engineers, as required, to obtain design approval.
•         Works with NC programmers and die makers to ensure design intent is achieved.
•         Creates and maintains required job documentation, including time logs.
•         Meets deadlines for scheduled deliverables, eg BOM’s, design drawings, etc.
•         Applies various material types to design, as appropriate.
 
  Skills and Abilities:
 
  • Sound understanding of engineering drafting principles
  • Knowledge of material properties, as related to die design
  •  Unigraphics CAD/CAM software
  •  Microsoft Office suite software
Experience in the design of turbine/airfoil molds and dies strongly preferred
 


 

Qualifications

Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
 This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
High School Diploma/GED
2 years experience required in mechanical design engineering
Unigraphics CAD/CAM
