Profile: Responsible for supporting the research, design, development, implementation, and testing of innovative manufacturing technologies necessary to advance the capabilities and strategic growth of AES. The position will support senior-level technologists in the planning and execution of identified projects.

Essential Functions: Under the direction of the Senior Principal Engineer, this position is responsible for supporting the research, design, development, implementation, and testing of innovative manufacturing technologies necessary to advance the capabilities and strategic growth of AES. The position will support senior-level technologists in the planning and execution of identified projects. This position includes both tactical & strategic initiatives, examples include but are not limited to:
  • Conducting research, modeling, and investigations to develop and test aerospace manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborating with Arconic internal and external customers in planning and execution of process/product development activities
  • Providing manufacturing technology and technical support to Arconic business units.
  • Utilize computational tools to design, model, and assess process capability for key characteristics
  • Interact with all levels of employees to participate in creative brainstorming sessions, perform proof-of-concept calculations, analyze system layouts, and develop improvements
Essential Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Engineering and Technology — Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. Knowledge of materials and manufacturing technologies. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services. 
  • Mechanical-Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs uses, repair and maintenance.
  • Drafting, Laying Out, and Specifying Technical Devices, Parts, and Equipment — Providing documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, or specifications to tell others about how devices, parts, equipment, or structures are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained, or used.  Proficiency of CAD systems and Microsoft Office Suite and utilizing solid modeling.
  • Technology Design — Generating or adapting equipment and technology to serve user needs.
  • Systems Analysis — Determining how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
  • Judgment and Decision Making — Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or completion of a Bachelor’s degree by January 1, 2019 from an accredited institution;
  • Minimum 1 year of engineering and/or manufacturing experience;
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. 
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S> person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S> Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology or a related technical field from an accredited institution.
  • 1-3 years related experience working in aerospace and/or manufacturing technology development.  A recent graduate with appropriate course work and intern/coop experience in the aerospace industry will be considered.
  • Experience in metallic material or titanium processing.
