Job Description

Arconic Fastening Systems (AFS) is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer III at our aerospace manufacturing facility in the City of Industry, CA.

Primary Purpose of the Job:
  • To provide on-the-floor engineering support.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develops, evaluates and improves manufacturing equipment and controls;
  • Contacts vendors when necessary regarding new equipment and technology, using knowledge of materials, equipment and operations;
  • Reviews and implements materials and processing customer specifications while assuring that specifications reflect attainable cost effective requirements;
  • Gathers all relevant data in the manufacturing processes; uses the data in support of designed experiments, failure analysis and problem-solving activity and as a basis for analysis in corrective actions and process improvements;
  • Prepares project capitalization funding requests;
  • Manages assigned projects—including vendors and subcontractors—from concept through implementation;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution;
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relatable manufacturing experience;
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position;
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications:
•  Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution;
•  Minimum of five (5) years of manufacturing experience;
•  Minimum of five (5) years of metalworking industry experience;
•  Experience with problem solving tools and techniques such as: 5-whys, Six Sigma, FMEA, Fishbone Diagram (Ishikawa), etc.;
•  Experience with General Machining, CNC Lathes, Centerless Grinding, Heading, Presses for Hot Forming (Forging), Thread Rolling, Tooling or Fixturing.
