Job Description

Arconic Fastening Systems is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer I to direct and assist quality teams in obtaining efficient operation of the Quality activities.  This role will maintain a customer focus (quality and on-time delivery are priority); assure a safe and healthful workplace; direct and supervise activities of quality team leads, technicians, and operators; and show by example a commitment to employee involvement, participative management, and continuous improvement.  This position is located at our aerospace manufacturing plant in Carson, CA.

Specific Responsibilities Include:
 
  • Responsible for maintenance of material specifications, product drawings, routing sheets and manufacturing procedures
  • Design and debugging of manufacturing processes and tooling for headers, rollers, drillers etc
  • Continuous improvement of tooling and manufacturing methods.
  • Assist in reduction of set-up time
  • Work hand in hand with production technicians to enhance manufacturing processes and troubleshoot issues
  • Resource for technical guidance to manufacturing personnel
  • Assist in determination of root cause of persistent problems
  • Assist in justification of new production facilities
  • Assist in getting new facilities “on line”
  • Support Quality System Improvement
  • Provides analysis and assists with capital equipment justifications
  • Interfaces with other manufacturing departments to address and resolve engineering issues
 
 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Engineering degree in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 1 year experience including internships metal forming industry (graduating winter 2018 or spring/summer 2019)
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.  ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Affinity to metal working principles required
  • Must have strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Must be skilled in Microsoft, PowerPoint, and Excel   
  • Knowledge of world class manufacturing principles such as lean manufacturing, JIT, SPC,TQM, etc are preferred
  • Must be able to read, write, and understand English
