This opening is in our Kawneer business located in Harrisonburg, VA. We are the leading manufacturer of architectural aluminum products and systems for the commercial construction industry. Kawneer is part of Arconic’s global Building and Construction Systems (BCS) business unit, which manufactures and markets architectural systems and products in North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
As a part of the Harrisonburg Front End Lead Team, the Project Manager Team Manager oversees the Project Management(PM) Department to ensure all projects are managed at levels to ultimately serve customers, attract more orders, evaluate and reassign orders to feed all plants enough to achieve forecasts, manage accurate visibility of backlog timeliness, while also meeting high quality standards.  

This position is also responsible for evaluating the needs of the department and partnering with leadership in growing, engaging, and managing talent within the department.  The department is very fast paced with high customer interaction and needs a strong manager who can prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines while creating a high-performance culture and team.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Manage Project Managers with day to day activities;
  • Provide a key support role for PM's and customers when there is escalation for urgent and complex questions or projects;
  • Ensure the tools, resources, and training needed to support the employees;
  • As a part of the Harrisonburg lead team, this role is involved in site strategic planning, talent reviews, and process improvement initiatives;
  • Be liaison to insure plants are receiving enough orders to fulfill forecasts;
  • Manage the department with an understanding of revenues, streamlining process flows, collaborating and creating a high-performance culture;
  • Deal with performance management including employee relations and conflict management.

  • Strong customer service skills and demonstrated results;
  • Business acumen, problem solving and analytical skills;
  • General understanding of building industry and basic engineering/product knowledge;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to learn and understand Kawneer products, product application, Front End and manufacturing flows;
  • Experience in managing a team to include coaching, giving feedback, performance appraisals, etc.;
  • Ability to influence, build, and motivate a team;
  • Proficient in computers and the ability to learn software such as PIMS, JD Edwards, and KaluCAD.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution;
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in project management and / or technical sales;
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role;
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management from an accredited institution;
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in field project management and / or leadership;
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in project management and / or technical sales in the fenestration or construction industry;
  • Experience with technical services (drafting, engineering, and material take off).
