Job Description

Provide strategic leadership and communication planning for media relations, including development and execution of an annual media relations plan to support the Corporation’s strategic goals. Help manage earnings and other financial announcements and communications. Work closely with business executives and C-suite to develop and strengthen media relationships. Evaluate media opportunities and execute those consistent with Arconic’s media strategy. Help develop and support global issues management activities. Manage day-to-day news and media relations functions. Work in partnership with other areas in Corporate Affairs, with Investor Relations and with communicators in the Business Units to ensure consistent and coordinated messaging on all issues. Support Arconic’s brand strategy.

Major activities/Key challenges
  • Serves as one of two primary contacts for Arconic corporate-level news and media-related functions.
  • Initiates, implements and supports a wide variety of news, promotional and marketing communications including press releases, media advisories, and all forms of communication with the external media.
  • Helps maintain overall crisis preparedness.
  • Oversees traditional and social media monitoring and reporting about Arconic in the external marketplace to ensure necessary and timely reaction/response.
  • Helps manage C-suite interaction with all media, including scheduling and preparation for presentations, press conferences, interviews, and all other opportunities for external visibility.
  • Develops and fosters positive relations with local, regional, national, international and trade media outlets. Leverages all technology plays in effective media relations, including Podcasts, video communications, digital media.
  • Works closely with all businesses and resource units to coordinate media relations efforts; provides strategic advice and counsel.
Essential Knowledge & Skills
  • Interest and experience in media relations, including issues management.
  • Interest in financial communications, including but not limited to quarterly earnings announcements and production of annual report.
  • Excellent writing, editing, communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with keen eye for detail.
  • Highly competent, extremely discreet in their judgment while maintaining high levels of confidentiality
  • Interest in actively managing issues in a communications context
  • Working knowledge of social / new media technology as well as traditional print and broadcast media at a global level.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a corporate or agency communications role.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in crisis management
  • Graduate degree from an accredited institution
  • Project management background
  • 5+ years’ financial communications experience
