Job Description

SUMMARY : Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, focusing on the hydraulic and electrical systems in a heavy industrial manufacturing facility, which include large presses, ring mills, and saws.

  • Troubleshoot high and low pressure hydraulic systems.
  • Install and troubleshoot electrical systems ranging from 24v to 480v.
  • Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment to detect malfunction and diagnose problem or repair machine.
  • Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts.
  • Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repair and/or replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
  • Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
  • Maintain a safe and organized workstation and follow all company safety procedures.
  • Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools..
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate, as needed.
  • Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, and perform other maintenance actions, following checklists.
  • Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices when needed.
  • Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Plan and lay out repair work using diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, and schematic diagrams.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
  • Align and balance new equipment after installation, when necessary.

Basic Qualifications

High school diploma or GED
3 - 5 years related industrial maintenance experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience maintaining industrial equipment in a manufacturing facility.
  • Experience installing and troubleshooting hydraulic systems
  • Experience installing and troubleshooting electrical systems
  • Welding and metal fabrication experience a plus.
  • Vocational school diploma or journeyman certificate
