Job Description

To effectively carry out the installation, maintenance, testing and repair of all equipment used within the steel industry.

Ability to work shifts as required.

To support the operation team to achieve their target.

To maintain health & safety standards to meet legislative requirements, meet company standards/Policy while ensuring optimum plant performance.

The details below are aimed at describing the main tasks and are not necessarily an exhaustive list of duties.  It does not preclude the need to carry out other specific, reasonable tasks from time to time:

  • Be aware of all Health and Safety statutory requirements and ensure compliance.
  • Carry out Planed work on a daily, weekly, monthly and yearly basis (PPM’s).
  • Implement a PPM program utilising Shires (maintenance management system).
  • Good working knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Have a proven ability of fault finding and problem-solving.
  • Good bench fitting skills.
  • Ability to work a height.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Experience in welding.
  • Supporting the implementation of continuous improvement activities.
  • Identify critical spares for all operational plant.
  • Allocation and prioritisation of all work during back shifts.
  • Liaison with production departments.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and embrace 5S.
  • Possibly provide coaching and mentoring of apprentices.  
  • Engage in the employee development program (PDR’s).
Ensure compliance with PPE requirements.

Qualifications

  • Copes well whilst under pressure and balancing a number of issues
  • Prioritise and can think on their feet
  • Able to work as part of a team or as an individual.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Flexible in terms of adapting working hours
  • Commitment
  • Ideally qualified to HNC Level or equivalent.
  • Completed a recognised Apprenticeship
  • Experience in working with in the steel industry.
Working experience with pneumatics, hydraulics etc.
