Arconic Engines in LaPorte IN, is seeking a Tool and Mold Maker to within our Castings facility.
 
Job Summary:
  • Work independent of general supervision, on any shift, to machine and/or manufacture dies, patterns and gauges of extreme complexity in support of the manufacturing process.
  • Plan and perform all bench, machine and finishing operations required to maintain, repair, troubleshoot and alter intricately designed and constructed wax dies, gauges and fixtures.
  • Operate all tool room machines.
  • Read blueprints.
  • Ability to interact positively with co-workers and other departments
 
Job Responsibilities:
  • Read and understand blueprints
  • Work from rough sketches
  • Run manual and computer controlled machines
  • Read micrometers, height gauges, calipers, indicators and any other precision tools
  • Basic layout work
  • Braze and solder and weld
  • Set-up and operate comparators
  • Maintain data on jobs performed
  • Program computer controlled machines
  • Perform other duties as required
  • Employees are expected to work overtime as needed.
 
Essential Function:
  • Must be able to function as a member of a team and be able to work under general supervision.
  • Must be able to work and function in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic knowledge of computers
  • Must be able to maintain expected quality levels.
  • Design fixtures, gauges, molds etc
  • Rework and repair fixture, gauges and molds
  • Long periods of standing
  • Lifting, pushing, and pulling.
  • Math calculations
  • Program and operate CNC equipment
 


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2 years experience programing CNC Equipment
  • 4 years work experience in a tool room environment
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associates degree in Machine Technology or Technical certification is preferred.
  • Journeyman Certification preferred
  • Work experience in Mold Making preferred
