Arconic Fastening Systems and Rings (AFSR) is seeking a Machinist V – Threadroll for our 2nd Shift at our Sylmar, CA location.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to inspect his own parts and help others to inspect the products
  • Having strong knowledge of reading Blue Prints & Manufacturing Sketches
  • Sets-up and operates induction electrical heaters and manual automatic threadroll machines
  • Change or adjust transfer mechanisms, feed chute, and hopper for feeding and positioning of fasteners
  • Repair an adjust installation tools
  • Strong knowledge of Shop-Floor math and calculations
  • Ability to troubleshoot, machines and product related problems, helping others in trouble shooting and getting production going
  • Familiar with SPC systems
  • Ability to make tooling for the various jobs
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment
  • Have leadership skills to lead others to make improvement in quality and production
  • Follow EHS policies to maintain a safe work environment
  • Utilizes sketches, layouts, engineering prints, verbal instructions, planning, customer print to operate all type of machine tools, to fabricate to highest tolerances for either permanent or temporary tooling, production parts and items, fixtures, dies, jigs, special production pieces and items
  • Must be willing to work overtime and Saturdays as scheduled

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 5 years machine shop experience
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this option.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR) which requires U.S. Person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as a U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (ie. Green Card Holder), Political Asylee or Refugee

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year certificate from college or technical school
