Arconic Fastening Systems (AFS) is seeking a Machinist IV at our Sylmar, CA location.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work under general supervision and guidance from supervisor and able to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Follows blueprints, shop drawings, planning, etc. to perform typical operations for department as directed
  • Must be able to interpret basic to moderate blueprint, shop drawings, and planning documents; and general understanding of interpreting complex blueprint drawings
  • Will work under the direction of immediate supervisor; higher labor grade machinist and/or department lead in carrying out cycle time reduction and process improvement initiatives
  • With minimal assistance able to set-up machine to produce sample products. 
  • Must be able to inspects samples for dimensional accuracy and obvious material damage. 
  • Working with department lead refines machine set-up by readjusting or replacing tooling as required to produce sample fasteners with proper dimensions for further machining and that are free of obvious material damage.
    Able to submit sample fasteners to Quality department for any required first article inspection
    Must be able to inspect products as needed (visually and with gauges) to verify proper condition and operation of machine and tooling
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be willing to work overtime and Saturdays as scheduled

 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Highschool Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 4 years progressive machine shop experience required
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
