Key Responsibilities:
  • Works independent of supervisor and must have expertise in at least four (4) of the following machines:
Automatics, CNC, Cold Heading, Centerless Grind, Heat Treat, Hot Heading, Lathe, Plate Toolmaker, Thread
Roll, Toolmaker.
  • Utilizes sketches, layouts, engineering prints, verbal instructions, planning, customer print to operate all types of machines tools, lathes, mills, drills, grinders, CNC, heading, thread roll, automatics, etc., to fabricate to highest tolerances for either permanent or temporary tooling, production parts and items, fixtures, dies, jigs, and special production pieces and items.
  • Lays out intricate and complex, lot or non-lot production parts or items on material specified, constructs, items, tools, fixtures, etc., requiring the location of several points no on the same plan, having coordinated dimensions in plan, not at right angle, supplies missing dimension necessary for machine set-ups/solving problems relative to work holding arrangements, unusual materials, and machine settings.
  • Logs out shops, guidelines, and machining reference points for subsequent machining operations. Shops with scrappers, chisels, filer, and various other perishable tools, measures with calipers, micrometers, dial/depth gauges, etc. to assure correct adjustments, clearances, alignment, etc. Checks finished parts for conformance to specifications.
  • May be required to analyze machining aspects and suggested design improvements concerning producibility.
  • Provides pieces and items for first article inspection.
  • Uses a variety of precision measuring instruments such as micrometer, height gauges, calipers, comparators, blocks, contour gauges, SPC, and other machinist instruments or tools.
  • Maintain area in a clean and orderly condition. Follows established house- keeping and safety practices to maintain the quality of the work environment.
  • Follows established housekeeping practices to maintain the quality of the work environment.
  • Records data on MRP, ASK III, or associated production documents.
  • Instructs/Train other operators in the proper methods of machining operations and assists co-workers in solving the more difficult problems involved in production.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Performs related work requiring equal or lesser skills.

Basic Qualifications

  • Highschool Diploma or GED Required
  • Minimum of 4 years of aerospace manufacturing environment
  • Must have general knowledge and familiarity with: CNC, Heading, Grind, Lathe, Tool & Die
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this option.
