Arconic Fastening Systems (AFS) is seeking a Machinist IV in our Grinding department at our Sylmar, CA location.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ability to work under limited supervision
  • Must have good communication skills and know basic shop math
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, policies and procedures in English
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence as required
  • Able to cover department topics as required in Daily Management meetings
  • Must be able to demonstrate and perform set-ups for departments standard operating machines
  • Must be able to demonstrate and perform basic troubleshooting logic
  • Ability to provide first article inspection following setup and make appropriate adjustments (if applicable) prior to production runs
  • Ability to train and share knowledge to others in department as required
  • Able to demonstrate and perform calculation of feeds and speeds
  • Must have knowledge of all measuring instruments and gages for their departments’ operations
  • Reviews work for completeness and quality of workmanship
     
Key Requirements:
  • Must be willing to work overtime and Saturdays as scheduled
  • Must be able to work in fast-paced environment


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Highschool diploma or GED required
  • Must have knowledge of running air chamfer, brown and sharp machines
  • Minimum of 4 years of manufacturing machine shop experience
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. 
 
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous aerospace experience preferred
  • Fastener Industry knowledge a plus
