Key Responsibilities:
  • Sets up machine tools and fixtures for operations to produce parts by adjusting speeds, feeds, pressure, etc. Adjusts flow
  • Operates machine on initial setups to check run. Provides first article inspection on following setup and adjustments prior to production run
  • Capable of setting up and running centerless grinders an tschudin Ball OD grinder
  • Operates hand feed or semi-automatic machine. Removes completed work, checks part to blueprint. Uses measuring tools/instruments/SPC to assure that dimensions are being held
  • Makes machine adjustments after setup to bring part back into tolerance. Performs SPC during operation for dimensions through measurement for accuracy of parts.
  • Uses standard precision measuring devices required by the operation.
  • Performs all work within established standards of production and the piece per hour machine capacity. Records data on QAD system/production documents.
  • Responsible for review of own work for completeness and quality standards.
  • Performs product fabrication by tending machine during operation making adjustments as necessary to ensure dimensional control. Sharpens and reworks tools as necessary for adjustment.
  • Loads and unloads parts from machine. Makes full use of available jigs and fixtures.
  • Moves parts to next operation. Performs pre-processing operations.
  • Provides all standard operator tools.
  • Follows established housekeeping and safety practices to maintain quality of work environment.
  • Performs related work of equal or lesser skill.
  • Interprets blueprints, shop drawings, planning to make complete setups and adjustments.
  • Follows EHS Policies to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Makes recommendations to management to improve design, material, productivity, and/or machining.
  • Assists other operators in training as required.
  • Notifies management of need for equipment or machinery repair.

Basic Qualifications

  • Highschool Diploma or GED Required
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in an Aerospace machine shop enviornment
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this option.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR) which requires U.S. Person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as a U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (ie. Green Card Holder), Political Asylee, or Refugee

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year certificate from college or technical school
