Arconic Fastening Systems (AFS) is seeking a Machinist II (Entry Level) for our 2nd Shift at our Sylmar, CA location.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work under direct supervision and guidance from supervisor and able to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Works directly from shop manuals, manufactures, specifications, blueprints, and shop drawings under direction of department lead or supervisors and will exercise proficiency in reading and interpreting
  • Will work under the direction of immediate supervisor; higher labor grade machinist and/or department lead in carrying out cycle time reduction and process improvement initiatives
  • Reviews work for completeness and quality of workmanship
  • Loads and unloads parts from machine
  • Will assist under the direction of a higher labor grade or skilled operator to determine when fasteners are ready for trimming by comparing part markings and dimensions
  • Will exercise proficiency on learning what parts and tooling’s required for proper positioning and trimming, etc. of fasteners by reducing shuttles, transfer fingers, knockout pins, etc.
  • Move parts to next operation
  • Able to work in a face paced environment
  • Must be willing to work overtime and Saturdays as scheduled

  • Must follow established housekeeping and safety practices to maintain quality of work environment


Basic Qualifications:
  • Highschool diploma or GED required
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous aerospace experience preferred
  • Fastener Industry knowledge a plus
  • Previous experience with Trimming/Stamping operations a plus
