Arconic Fastening Systems (AFS) is seeking a Machinist II (2nd Shift) for our Deburring department Sylmar, CA location.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Works under direct supervision of the manufacturing Supervisor and/or Department Lead
  • Works directly from shop manuals, manufacturers’, specifications, blueprints, and shop drawings under direction of department lead
  • Reviews work for completeness and quality of workmanship
  • Will exercise proficiency in reading and interpreting blue prints, shop drawings, and planning documents
  • Will assist and practice proficiency in setting up tumblers, and understanding the quantities and how to run
  • Will exercise proficiency in using a variety of precision measuring instruments
  • Able to work with hand tools and knowledge of making chamfers
  • Able to work with parts and break the sharp edges of parts
  • Able to buff parts to proper surface finish
  • Move parts to next operation
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to follow established housekeeping and safety practices to maintain quality of work environment
  • Performs all work within established standards of production
  • Other duties may be assigned
  • Must be willing to work overtime and Saturdays as scheduled
     
 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Highschool diploma or GED required
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. 
     
  Preferred Qualifications:
  • 6 months to 1 year of machine shop experience preferred
  • Fastener Industry knowledge a plus
