Arconic Fastening Systems is looking for an Apprentice in our Nut forming and Heading Departments. This position is located at our Aerospace manufacturing plant in Fullerton, CA.

Under the direction of a Sr. Forming Tech, Lead person or Supervisor, operates and learns to set up various types of single and double die cold heading machines and/or multi-station nut formers to produce parts consistent with print specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assists in set up and operates cold heading machines and/or National and Waterbury-Ferral Nut Formers;
  • Learns the set up and operation of assigned machines;
  • Under the direction of others selects mounts and adjusts proper punches and die sets;
  • Assembles dies and punches using Hydraulic press;
  • Under the direction of others sets machine speeds, feeds, and stops;
  • Works from work orders, heading/nut former parts prints, and machine layouts;
  • Utilizes knowledge of metal flow capabilities of various metals to operate machines and produce parts consistent with print specification;
  • Checks parts with standard gauges or precision measuring instruments and submits parts for “first article” inspection as required;
  • Apprentices are required to complete multiple courses during the 4 year program including blue print reading, shop math and Quality.
