Arconic Engines is seeking a Machine Shop Lead. This position is located in our Fontana, CA location.

Sets up and operates machine shop equipment, to machine metallic parts by performing the following duties.

Duties and responsibilities include the following; other duties may be required and assigned at any time.

The team leader will oversee 1-15 employees, within the same department, on an assigned work shift.

Demonstrate the ability to operate machine shop equipment and perform routine preventive maintenance on the machine, i.e. maintain the proper coolant level and ratio when machining parts.

Will measure, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining.

Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on lathes.

Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.

Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.

If applicable may be required to perform intermediate measuring of parts and record the finish machined dimensions on the Dimensional Inspection Report.

If applicable, may be required to demonstrate the ability to read and understand standard measuring tools such as Micrometers, Calipers, ID Micrometers, Depth Gauge, Surface Gauges, and Radius Gauges.

Will verify conformance of finished work piece to written specifications.

Maintains a safe and orderly workstation

May confers with Machine Shop Supervisor to resolve machining problems.

Must have understanding and knowledge of company procedures and work instructions.

Maintains a safe and organized workstation and follows all company policy, safety and procedures

Basic Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Understand how to read blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Basic computer skills and familiarity

Must meet the requirements pertaining to Vision Acuity Testing under the Quality Assurance Manual.
