Logistics Manager in Lafayette, IN at Arconic

Job Description

Arconic Lafayette Operations is in need of a Warehouse and Logistics Manager to join its Supply Chain & Logistics Department. Under the direction of the Supply Chain Manger, this position optimizes the movement, storage and shipment of materials within Arconic Lafayette Operations, as well as to and from customers, sources, and material suppliers in a safe and service sensitive manner. This position will have at least 3 direct reports. They communicate continually with representatives from Sales, Quality Assurance, Production, Maintenance, and Shipping & Planning Departments. Externally, they communicate with customers’ inspectors, transportation providers, carrier contacts, materials suppliers, and subcontractors. 
 
 
Accountability Objectives
 
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
 
  • Leadership over finished goods management and shipment processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency in a manner that supports both internal and external customers.
  • Ensuring staffing of personnel to cover shipments for all of Lafayette, Arconic.
  • Lead execution of Finished Goods Physical inventory when necessary.
  • Supporting the goals and objectives of the business unit in relation to transportation and logistics, including, but not limited to establishing standard work, error proofing shipments, increasing inventory and shipment accuracy and overseeing a best in class Automotive grade warehouse and shipping operation.
  • Interfacing with internal customers including Production, Sales, Quality Assurance, Finance, and Procurement Departments, as well as with the external vendor base in relation to physical distribution to eliminate redundant or non-value-added material flow functions.
  • Ensuring all required system data inputs are handled on a timely and accurate basis.
  • Scheduling workloads of dedicated transportation providers and working closely with their management personnel to ensure that internal and external customers’ needs are satisfied in a safe and cost-effective manner.
  • Covering exports execution in absence of Shipping Lead. Keeping weekly contact should coverage be necessary.
  • Communicating with internal departments on issues or needed actions, as required, to avoid delays with scheduled shipments.
  • Maintaining and making accessible all pertinent processes and procedures in case of absences. 
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
        
  • An Associate degree from an accredited institution.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
 
For this position to be successful, preference is given to candidates with:
 
  • Minimum 10 years of practical experience in the heavy industrial manufacturing and/or transportation fields.
  •  Mastery of software programs including Oracle, Shop Floor, Clear Orbit (ERP, MRP systems), and supplier Portals.
  • Knowledge of Arconic tools, process and procedure.
  • Rate negotiation skills.
