Arconic is currently in search of Lead Field Service Engineer a to join our Global Rolled Products (GRP) Operations business unit in Davenport, Iowa.
The Lead Field Service Engineer position is within Arconic’ s North American Aerospace and Automotive Products Business Unit. AAP produces the widest variety of aluminum sheet and plate products in the world. Our aluminum is the foundation for many products serving customers in aerospace and automotive systems and distribution.
This position serves to provide field technical support to our customers, our network of sheet and plate manufacturing operations, and our commercial team supporting Aerospace, Automotive, and Industrial flat rolled markets.  This support includes customer technical service, product and process improvement, quality systems, product and process development, inspection, and general market sector leadership.
Responsibilities of the role are the following (but not limited to):  
  • Training customers in the fundamentals of aluminum flat rolled products, sheet and plate quality, and general fabricating methods;
  • Supporting, and leading, quality system activities within a process or product area;
  • Supporting compliance with product and process audits;
  • Direct supervision of 5-8 Field Service Engineers, indirect supervision of 4 additional Field Service Engineers, and up to 5 contract Field Engineers;
  • Developing Field Service Engineers (Mentoring/guiding/training);
  • Track, monitor, analyze key customer performance metrics to drive continual improvement;
  • Overseeing and coordinating Field Service Engineer activities at customer locations to improve overall customer satisfaction.
  • Leading strategic efforts with account managers to identify and resolve unresolved customer issues;
  • Facilitating enhanced linkage between our plant operations.  Field Service Engineer efforts need to drive corrective actions, recovery improvement efforts, and reduce overall PPM credit rate;
  • Communicating with the highest levels of internal and external organizations to facilitate positive customer relations;
  • Fully support Davenport Work’s EHS policies and programs. This is to be accomplished by staying current on required training, being responsible for one’s own safety, helping enforce safe work practices in the mill, in customer shops, and on the road;
Understand how Arconic Business System (lean manufacturing) principles apply to their area of competency and apply those principles in solving problems and deploying solutions. In particular, the position is expected to understand the problem-solving process and process management systems.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or Finance from an accredited institution;
  • Minimum of 6 years of work experience in flat rolled Aluminum, Steel, or other metal manufacturing;
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position;
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ten (10) years manufacturing quality experience.
