Arconic Fastening Systems is looking for a Laboratory Technician I in our Quality Assurance department for weekend shift.  The position performs a variety of standard laboratory tests in accordance with defined procedures to determine conformance of materials, coatings and other product characteristics to established specifications.  This position will be based in our Waco, TX plant.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare plated and/or coated samples for salt spray testing.
  • Maintain salt spray cabinet and salt spray testing.
  • Analyze and measure plating and/or coating thicknesses and/or weights from Production and outside processing as required.
  • Analyze plating, phosphate, boiler water, lime tanks, alkaline tanks (Heat Treat washer), quench oil and plating glass media as necessary to maintain proper operation levels.
  • Prepare and maintain chemical reagents, etches, pH standards, etc. to support QA Testing and Plating functions.
  • Maintain records and/or logs for chemicals/reagents/etches and insure expiration dates are within limits.
  • Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of all lab equipment.
  • Provide technical assistance to Final Inspection, Heat Treat, Plating, other manufacturing departments and Engineering/R&D.
  • Provide assistance to experiment and test as requested R&D and Engineering.
  • Maintain records, prepare lab reports, maintain logs and files as required.
  • Ensure that all work activities are performed in accordance with established safety and environmental standards.
  • Maintain full compliance with Company policies and procedures and conducts all activities in accordance with the Arconic Code of Conduct
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of and commitment to lean manufacturing principles and techniques.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Utilize good judgment in performance of assigned duties.
  • Work independently with a moderate degree of supervision.
  • Demonstrate positive interpersonal skills working individuals and groups through the facility. 
  • Knowledge of computer software and systems utilized in this job assignment.
  • Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to perform assigned duties.
  • Lift and carry loads of up to 30 pounds for short distances.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Stoop, bend and occasionally climb stairs.
  • Use personal protective equipment required for assigned job duties.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing using Standard English.
  • Perform mathematical calculations.
  • Able to read and interpret gages and instruments.


Basic Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum three years of experience in a manufacturing environment as a Laboratory Technician or in a related Quality Assurance function. 
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.  ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associates’ degree in related technical field from accredited institution.
