Arconic Engineered Structures (AES) is seeking an IT Engineer (Systems Administrator). The IT Engineer will be part of the Technical Services team and will report to the Technical Services Manager. The primary responsibility of the IT Engineer is the delivery of tasks, IT infrastructure projects, and the completion of work necessary to ensure the delivery of IT services to the organization. Profile:
  • The IT Engineer will oversee various technologies in their area and will work to ensure all systems are running efficiently. They will work to understand issues when they occur and proactively maintain systems to prevent problems before they arise.
  • Essential Functions: The IT Engineer position within AES includes both technical skills and interpersonal skills essential to team work.  Examples include but are not limited to:
  • Provide technical support for both hardware and software issues as part of a multiskilled team
  • Monitor assigned systems daily and respond immediately to operational, security or usability concerns
  • Follows change management and compliance processes to ensure work is done responsibly
  • Communicates well with local and global team members to ensure others are involved and aware of their work
  • Upgrades systems and processes as required for enhanced functionality and security issue resolution. Is mindful of new software releases and plans and executes upgrade projects
  • Seeks to gain understanding from coworkers before committing to a course of action
  • Uses a strong research ability to improve personal knowledge and shares this with the wider team
  • Manages the systems within the IT Engineer’s area of responsivities competently and is accountable for issues.
  • Assists in the development of comprehensive documentation where none exists, constantly assists with revising documentation that is incomplete, outdated or incorrect
  • Understands the role of patching and preventative maintenance
  • Is aware of Industry standard IT security requirements and how to protect systems from attack
  • Understands the role that backups play in the security of an organization
  • Is able to work in an environment where goals are set and progress is monitored throughout the year.
  • Understands the value of testing new systems prior to putting in production and testing existing systems after major change work
  • Supports other team members with their own issues, especially in customer facing or time sensitive scenarios.
  • Works well under pressure when issues occur, and can work to a schedule so that project deadlines are met
  • Communicates clearly, competently and often to management of status updates.
  • Develop detailed project plans and work in a project-oriented way.
 
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
 
  • Windows Servers – A deep knowledge of all Microsoft windows server platforms
  • Active Directory – An extensive knowledge of Microsoft Active directory, from implementation to maintenance
  • VMWare – The ability to work competently within a virtualized environment
  • Monitoring – A knowledge of the value of system or hardware monitoring and the ability to enact a monitoring strategy for critical systems
  • DNS – A strong knowledge of DNS and the role it plays in infrastructure and how to find and fix faults
  • SCCM – A highly desirable skillset for this role is a high competency with Microsoft SCCM, from deploying SCCM environments to managing patching and software delivery
  • SSL – can deploy certificates to systems and understands what a CSR is, how to generate one, and how to export and manage certificates
  • PowerShell – the ability to create, edit and execute PowerShell scripts, particularly to automate labor intensive tasks
  • Logging – is able to find, evaluate and understand information in logs to troubleshoot problems
  • Backup technologies – knowledge of how to set up backup jobs
  • Fundamental knowledge of networking, IP addressing, Subnetting, ip related fault finding (ping, tracert)
  • Storage – experience in storage systems, and how these integrate with servers and hardware to create infrastructure platforms
  • Linux – Preference will be given to candidates with an understanding of Linux, particularly Red Hat.
  • SharePoint – Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Microsoft SharePoint

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • HS Diploma from an accredited institution;
  • Minimum 2 years of IT experience;
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR), which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. Green Card Holder), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in IT related field
  • Demonstrated understanding or qualifications in System Administration related technologies
  • PMP certification and/or project management experience
  • System Center Configuration Manager or System Center Operations Manager experience
  • Proven experience as a System Administrator or similar role
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Outstanding mediating, negotiating, and influencing skills
  • Microsoft Windows Server related qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to train, develop, and motivate colleagues.
