Background experience and course work in the following areas:
 
Strength of Materials
  • Analysis of composite beams for stress and deflection
Lab experience
  • Testing of physical composite beam assemblies using universal testing machine
Programming experience
  • Advanced Excel, Visual Basic, MATLAB or web-based tool using FEA such as COMSOL multi physics
 
Anticipated work project for summer 2019
 
  • Test physical composite beam assemblies to determine actual deflections.
  • Develop formulas or FEA model and validate against actual test results.
  • Use validated analysis model to create computer user interface for alternative load combinations and beam geometries.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
    • GPA of 3.0 or above
    • Must be involved in at least 1 extracurricular activity.
    • Prior work experience.
    • Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Industrial Engineering or Building/Construction Sciences with an expected graduation date of August 2019, December 2019, or April/May/June 2020
    • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
