Job Description

Arconic Cleveland Operations, a forging facility located at 1600 Harvard Ave., is seeking an Inspection/Testing Lead to join its Quality Department. Under the direction of the Quality Manager, this position is responsible for supervising, coaching, and mentoring all direct reports of Testing, NDT Inspection and Layout Inspection, acting as a lead for the inspection & testing disposition of final products. He/she communicates continually with Quality/Metallurgical, Operations, Supply Chain, Sales and Marketing personnel to ensure compliance to applicable quality system standards, customer requirements, and industry specifications.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Supervising team leads for Testing, NDT Inspection and Layout Inspection that support the Cleveland Works forging business. This includes managing, directing, and holding accountable a multi-disciplined staff, acting as a project manager for multifunctional teams on process improvement activities and new product qualifications, and leading team in assigned development programs for improved products and processes.
  • Assuring, validating, and certifying the quality of all Cleveland Works produced Aerospace forgings and products to meet customer and aerospace industry requirements. This includes overseeing the internal test lab & coordination with outside sources, managing quality records of AS9102 dimensional reports and calibration of inspection equipment, and providing technical guidance to NDT personnel.
  • Developing and maintaining quality assurance systems, procedures, and processes used by the Testing and Inspection teams and partnering staffs to meet product liability obligations, customer specifications and industry quality requirements. This includes providing inspection support for product and process activities relative to forgings.
  • Developing and managing work practices that maximize operational efficiencies. This includes leading continuous improvement, LEAN manufacturing initiatives, and process stability activities to reduce waste and cost.
  • Interfacing with customers and suppliers through emails, phone calls, and monthly visits to develop product and quality strategies and solutions that meet customer specifications and company quality requirements. Maintaining and controlling all applicable inspection work instructions for testing of aerospace parts. This includes reviewing, clarifying, and updating quality system documentation which hourly inspection employees are required to follow to meet customer and industry specifications.
  • Monitoring and analyzing key quality performance indicators and process operations and recommending corrective actions to team.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications : •High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
•Minimum of 3 years of experience in Quality and/or Operations in a forging facility.
•This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.


Preferred Qualifications : •Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
•Minimum of 3 years of experience in testing processes and for NDT and dimensional inspection.
•Minimum of 3 years of experience in engineering process design, feasibility studies, and project management in a manufacturing environment.
•Level III certification in Florescent penetrant Inspection (FPI) or Ultrasonic Inspection
