Job Description


Profile: The IGT Production Planning Manager directs and coordinates activities concerned with the production of company products through direct interface with customers/vendors and in-house personnel.  This involves managing, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring the expedient flow of parts through the manufacturing processes to satisfy the customers’ delivery requirements; in addition to, maximizing manufacturing efficiency and minimizing costs.  Coordinates plant production activities with procurement and manufacturing departments.
Key Duties:
  • Communicates with regular and perspective internal/external customers concerning requirements, talks with them regarding other customer service-related concerns, and answers any other questions.  Approximately 35% of available time is spent maintaining internal/external vendor contacts.
  • Acts as liaison between Arconic’s customers, manufacturing and support teams.  Communicates customers’ requirements and concerns.  Acts as the customer intermediary to ensure specifications are acceptable and delivery is timely. 
  • Manages and develops master schedule, based on operational sequences and lead-time requirements for products, to meet delivery deadlines according to sales forecasts or customer orders, establishing the appropriate pace through operations.
  • Integrates a feedback loop into the management system structure that will be the primary driver for learning and prioritizing business improvement initiatives.
  • Analyzes production specifications and requirements in conjunction with plant capacity data, effectiveness, efficiency, and opportunities.  Performs mathematical calculations to determine optimal manufacturing processes, tools, flow paths and human resource requirements.
  • Plans and directs production activities.  Establishes production priorities for products and processes to maximize customer value while gaining competitive advantages.  Actively streamlining supply-side activities to reduce constraint development - predict and mitigate disruptions before they occur, reduce mitigation time.
  • Ensures item master and BOM accuracy in the OHCMS manufacturing system to drive accurate MRP data.
  • Schedules daily, weekly, monthly and annually the production expectations that are aligned with our customers’ requirements - manufacturing sequences, lead times and demonstrated efficiency are the foremost denominators contributing to production objectives. Utilizes sales and operation planning processes – demand management, operations management and optimizing capacity utilization.
  • Manages delivery schedules in addition to other supply chain activities, i.e., line of balances. Ensuring the incorporation of data driven insights.
  • Manages production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities.
  • Develops and implements operating methods that apply synchronous manufacturing principles, the entire supply chain working together in harmony, eliminating system constraints and improving product quality.
  • Prepares, tracks and implements production reports that align suppliers, vendors and internal production departments to the manufacturing and financial plan expectations – ultimately, maximizing operation’s demonstrated capacity and flow path capacity utilization. Optimize supply chain execution.
  • Maintains supply chain operational focus that executes relentless initiatives targeting end-to-end flow, speed and lead-time reduction by identifying and eliminating all non-value complexities and waste.  Supporting and facilitating rigorous process discipline, inventory optimization, and first-time quality of processes.
  • Analyzes physical inventory key performance indicators to ensure appropriate levels are maintained to meet or exceed the plant’s manufacturing, sales and financial expectations.
  • Leads and facilitates the annual physical inventory activities.
Position Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Engineering, Business Administration or related field from four-year college or university; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Five years Production Planning experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Aptitude to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.  Knowledgeable in mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Demonstrated requisite skills and abilities in basic computer operation.  Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.  Working knowledge of synchronous manufacturing required.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
 Basic Qualifications:
  • 5 years minimum experience in plant operational management and/or an equivalent large segment of a business.
  • Excellent communication skills (presentations, verbal and written)
  • Highly knowledgeable with production planning concepts such as MRP, MRP II, ATP, CTP etc.
  • Thorough understanding of Budget responsibility
  • Exceptional analytical and conceptional thinking skills
  • High level of competency in Microsoft Office applications especially Excel

  • Minimum of 5 years-experience in aerospace and/or automotive manufacturing.
  • Investment Casting manufacturing experience
  • APICS CPIM/CSCP certification
  • Knowledge of program languages such as Visual Basic and Python
  • Master’s degree from accredited institution
  • Experience in an organized (Union) environment
