Arconic Engineered Structures (AES) is seeking an HR Manager with a strong labor background and a hands-on style to provide HR leadership for our manufacturing location in Cleveland, OH. Arconic Engineered Structures (AES) serves the global aerospace and automotive markets with the most specialized engineering, highest quality, and the greatest breadth and depth of forgings. Our vertically integrated capabilities and deep materials science expertise in aluminum and titanium structural casting is taking the industry to new heights. Arconic Cleveland Operations is a unionized heavy industrial manufacturing facility with a workforce of 800+.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:
The primary purpose of this position is to partner with the plant leadership team to optimize workplace performance in support of business goals. Under the direction of both the AES Global HR Director and Cleveland Director of Operations, this position directs both strategic and tactical HR initiatives. Duties include but are not limited to: 
  • Translates business strategy into HR function objectives.
  • Directs all aspects of recruitment and retention activities. Ensures all activities are in compliance with our equal employment policies and practices.
  • Monitors Company adherence to local labor agreements with the UAW and IAM unions.
  • Along with the Cleveland Labor Relations Manager and Arconic Industrial Relations liaison, presents the position of the Company during arbitration and other labor negotiations.
  • Ensures site and functional area decisions are handled fairly and consistently and are in line with corporate policies and goals.
  • Ensures the communication of information regarding corporate programs or announcements occurs in a timely, clear, and concise manner (benefits, training, organizational development). 
  • Drives organizational initiatives such as talent development, employee engagement, and learning and development.
  • Communicates and coordinates the salary administration and variable compensation processes, conducts compensation reviews, provides consulting on compensation processes and structure, and evaluates salaried jobs.
  • Consults with other managers on training and development concerns. Recommends training and development strategies for both broad and individualized needs. Implements training programs for specialized issues.
  • Leads employee engagement survey deployment and action planning within the site.
  • Maintains good public relations status with the various civic and welfare organizations, local plants, all forms of local media, state and local government representatives, and business people in the community regarding human resources functions.
  • Continuously reviews and updates people-related policies and procedures. Ensures the HR function keeps employees informed of all changes in policies.
  • Performs investigations and assists in the appropriate and timely resolution of concerns reported.
  • Along with the onsite Medical staff and EHS Manager, participates in the disability and return to work process including cases that intersect with worker’s compensation and FMLA.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 7 years of HR Management experience.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position;
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree is in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Psychology.
  • Master's Degree in Human Resource Management or Business Administration.
  • Progressive leadership experience with increasing responsibilities and direct reports.
  • 5+ years of HR Experience working with a CBA (collective bargaining agreement).
  • 10+ years of HR experience
  • HR Management experience in a large Fortune 500 company.
  • Experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
  • SHRM or HRCI certification.
