JOB SUMMARY:
The HR Generalist is a member of the human resources team and is primarily responsible for all payroll functions such as data entry, processing and auditing location payrolls, reporting, withholding, extensions, deductions and reconciliations for Arconic Engines Savannah Operations. The HR Generalist will have other human resources involvement to include new hire orientation, policy development, coordinating employee functions, and general employee communications. 
 
Essential Functions:
This is a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities and is not all inclusive. Incumbent(s) may and may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure timely and correct payroll
  • Responsible for all payroll related general ledger accounts monthly or as required
  • Work as part of a team to monitor, develop or procure, implement and support HR processes and systems by utilizing technically sound methods of requirements and process definition, systems analysis and design, planning, scheduling and testing
  • Establish and maintain a high level of customer interaction and focus in order to identify improvement opportunities and recommend solutions to solve business issues
  • Provide subject matter expertise in the processes and systems in assigned areas of responsibility
  • Produce accurate and timely payroll, including internal/external financial reporting, journal vouchers and month end reports
  • Coordinate the maintenance of payroll records, payroll distribution
  • Submit verification of employment requests, court orders and/or unemployment claims to appropriate parties
  • Reroute mailings to appropriate parties (tax notices, invoices, tax levies, garnishments, etc.)
  • Responsible for developing end-user training for supervisors and employees; maintain training through refresher programs, etc.
  • Main point of contact for internal audit and testing support for payroll

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 3 years of payroll experience
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of local, state and federal laws and regulations related to the payroll process
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated capability working with Microsoft Office suite of products; extremely proficient in Excel formulas, look-ups and pivot tables
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
  • Experience with a Time and Attendance Application
