Arconic is seeking a Safety and Health Manager for our Global Rolled Products Business Unit (GRP) This position is be part of the Business Unit’s EHS staff and offers a fantastic opportunity to immediately contribute to the Business Unit’s EHS efforts. This position will report directly to the VP of EHS and will be located at one of our manufacturing sites in Iowa, Indiana or Pennsylvania. Business travel to other GRP locations will be necessary and on a frequent basis. The ideal candidate will drive safety and health initiatives and process improvements across the BU. Profile: The GRP, Health and Safety Manager primary objective is to lead GRP BU global deployment of safety and FSI initiatives and process improvement efforts across the BU.
 
Essential Functions: The Health and Safety Manager for GRP position includes both creation of strategic vision, and tactical management including execution, examples include but are not limited to: 
  • Develop, deploy and execute Fatality and Serious Injury (“FSI”) Prevention programs.
  • Lead deployment and execution of BU wide safety initiatives and track to ensure closure.
  • Lead Safety or an EHS large manufacturing or multi-plant environment.
  • Provide case management guidance and training that supports the business.
  • Develop new and update existing written Safety programs to ensure compliance with Federal, State and inter-company engineering standards
  • Translate applicable Regional, Federal, State, and Arconic Safety-related regulations and procedures into actionable items that drive safety and health compliance and improvements across the BU.
  • Communicate and advocate safety as priority with all levels of the Business Unit, Arconic Corporate staff, and government representatives
  • Demonstrate passion for change and relentless focus on execution. 
Essential Knowledge/Skills/Abilities


  • Law and Government — Knowledge of laws, legal codes, government regulations, executive orders, and agency and Company rules.
  • Public Safety and Security — Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
  • Administration and Management — Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
  • 7 years’ industrial safety experience in increasingly responsible leadership roles.
  • International experience.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S> person as a U.S> citizen, U.S> Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder), Political Asylee, or Refugee. 
Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS / MS degrees in Occupational Safety or a closely related field.
  • Metals industry experience.
  • Safety leadership in a multi-plant, regional or business unit role.
  • Professional certification (ie: CSP) is preferred.
  • Significant travel (75-100%) is required for this position sometimes with short notice.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a global business over multiple time zones.
