Arconic Fastening Systems (AFS) in Fullerton is seeking a Hazardous Waste Tech.

The Environmental Hazardous Materials/Wastewater Operator will oversee and coordinate the activities needed to bring the facility into compliance with waste management requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Is responsible for satellite waste area management.  Arranges for transport of satellite waste containers to the 90 day waste accumulation area. Is responsible for management of the 90 day accumulation area;
  • Responsible for scheduling of waste shipments, preparation of accurate manifests, Hazardous Waste Inventory Management and for Waste Data Management;
  • Assists the Environmental Supervisor in preparation of waste reports, responsible for ordering Hazardous and non-hazardous waste supplies, assists with implementation of cost efficient waste management strategies;
  • Responsible for Waste Profiling, Characterization and Analysis, arranges Lab Pack Services as needed;
  • Read charts, flow meters, and gauges to detect equipment malfunctions;
  • Collect samples, make process reports, and perform minor repairs on equipment;
  • Maintains ID & Classification of solid and hazardous waste, labels all hazardous waste and all Non-hazardous waste, including general plant refuse containers;
  • The Environmental Waste Coordinator shall have initial training and/or job experience in hazardous waste management at a level to be able to recognize environmental issues and communicate these to the EHS Manager and/or Environmental Supervisor;
  • Annual hazardous waste training shall be completed by the Environmental Waste Coordinator to a level of expertise commensurate with the job duties;
  • Conducts and documents all required regulatory inspections of waste areas, e.g. daily, weekly, monthly inspections;
  • Work under direct supervision on duties and tasks that are standardized, selecting from written instructions and established procedures.


Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and one year related experience and/or training.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. 
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
