Job Description

The Global Rolled Products (GRP) Global Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Director is an executive position will serve as a critical partner to the business and corporate leadership team.  In addition, this position will be responsible for developing and leading the global GRP EHS process and will champion compliance and continuous improvement of the global EHS culture.
 
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Influence globally in a responsible manner which respects the environment and the health and safety of our people, our customers, our suppliers and our communities;
  • Be committed to meeting and exceeding all applicable EHS requirements and dedicated to continually improving our EHS performance;
  • Partner, coach and develop – senior executives and global leaders to own, drive and deliver fatality prevention actions and improved EHS results Year-over-year;
  • Lead EHS talent management and retention – developing internship program, succession planning, individual development planning, mentor process and campus recruiting;
  • Continue to drive and enhance our Human Performance strategy and integration process – driving cultural error proofing/reduction techniques across all business functions and disciplines;
  • Develop a strategic workers compensation and medical management process - to implement best practices and drive towar year-over-year WC case and cost reduction;
  • Work with locations to develop strategic loss prevention processes – to protect company assets;
  • Drive Strategic EHS Capital funding management – including best practice sharing and standardization of risk reduction projects and actions to drive the elimination of top EHS hazards and liabilities;  
  • Established Environmental and Sustainability focus – to deliver improved recycling efforts, landfill and water reduction;
  • Expertise in negotiating with EHS governmental agencies (local, state & country specific) – establishing acceptable permitting and regulatory requirements for the business;
  • Additional competencies include driving positive change and achieving sustainable results, developing and leading high performance teams, creative problem solving, team building and collaborating across complex matrix organizations.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health and or Safety from an accredited institution;
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive EHS experience in leadership roles including senior leadership of a global, multi-site manufacturing company;
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Environment Health and Safety from an accredited institution; 
  • Excellent management of change skills and the ability to prioritize global initiatives and organizations;
  • Experience developing, leading and driving EHS programs, systems and processes within a multi-site manufacturing company;
  • Expert knowledge of safety, health, and environmental regulations and policies;
  • Experience interfacing with suppliers and all levels of regulatory agencies;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage through impact and influence;
  • Excellent communication skills with all levels of the organization;
  • Ability to travel global at varying frequencies based on the needs of the business;
  • Heavy Manufacturing experience with high hazard processes (e.g., molten metal, large mobile and cranes, extrusion/forging presses, combustible explosion hazards etc.).
