Arconic has an exciting opportunity for an Global Automotive and Micromill Technology Director to work within Global Rolled Products. GRP is a dynamic global organization that offers both conventional ingot and Micromill™ products for automotive applications. GRP is made up of Arconic's rolling operations around the world and is one of Arconic's most global group with manufacturing and commercial sites in North America, Europe, South America, Asia, and Russia.

This position is within GRP's Product Technology group and is responsible for the definition and execution of automotive product technology and application engineering efforts globally. This presently focuses on North America with our sites in Alcoa TN, Davenport IA, Danville IL, Lancaster PA and San Antonio TX and positions the business for a global expansion. The group works closely with Customers, Commercial, Operations, the Arconic Technology Center. GRP’s Product Technology group drives for rapid and sustained product development and commercialization to accelerate profitable growth and generate customer demand.

The position will be located in Farmington Hills, Michigan and reports to the Global Rolled Products Product Technology Vice President and is responsible for the development and implementation into production of ingot and Micromill™ aluminum sheet for automotive markets globally.

The primary purpose of this role is to be single point accountable for the technical engagements with automakers and their Tiers, development of automotive products and their successful and profitable implementation into production. The role will have direct leadership of application engineering team and the product technology team. The role will also set the direction for research and development at the Arconic Technology Center. Primary engagement includes Customers, Commercial Teams, GRP Plants, Arconic Technology Center, and Intellectual Property council.

Major activities/Key Challenges:
• Drive for close engagement and alignment with automotive customer needs through the application engineer team. This includes embedded resources within customer engineering teams as well as resources that reside in Arconic facilities.
• Own the technology roadmap for the automotive product mix to drive priorities for product development.
• Own the research and development portfolio for Global Rolled Products automotive products.
• Deliver increased margin opportunities by development and implementation of new ingot and Micromill™ based products.
• Lead product management efforts for automotive sales and operation planning as key tool for working across Commercial, Operations and Financial organization.
• Represent Arconic at automotive technical conferences with targeted presentations.
• Monitor the technical developments of materials competing with aluminum in the automotive industry. Essential Knowledge and Skills/Education

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in metallurgical or mechanical engineering or materials science from an accredited institution.
• 10 years in an automotive metals manufacturing or usage environment working in a technical or project management position, or equivalent.
• Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
• Travel required – 25 to 50%

Preferred Qualifications:
• Masters and/or PhD degree preferred
• Knowledge specific to aluminum products and manufacturing processes in an aluminum rolling mill.
• Knowledge of casting, hot rolling, cold rolling and heat-treating principles.
• 5 years in a manufacturing technical role dealing with aluminum product development and commercial launch.
• Experience with the Automotive industry is a plus.
