Kawneer North America offers architectural aluminum building products and systems for the commercial construction business. We provide customers with a comprehensive portfolio that includes entrances, framing systems, windows and curtain wall systems.
 
The Finishing Engineer is responsible for the engineering activities supporting the anodize and paint work centers and the supporting processes such as waste water that aligns business objectives for the location and for driving continuous improvement activities and reporting on activities/action progress.
 
Job duties and responsibilities include:
  • Provide troubleshooting support to restore flow and lead problem solving activities to ensure sustainable solutions are implemented
  • Identify, justify and implement capital projects for the anodize and paint area while managing to the project timeline and budget
  • Develop competencies of the operators, leads, supervisors, maintenance technicians, etc. through technical expertise, guidance, support, coaching, counseling, and leadership and aligning them with the finishing best practices.
  • Ensure our process management systems, maintenance systems, recipe and recipe adherence systems are in control and meeting standards
  • Perform product/process analysis in the paint, anodize, and supporting areas to identify continuous improvement opportunities and implement changes for safety, quality, cost reduction and efficiency.
  • Facilitate comprehensive problem solving ability with equipment, process controls, recipes, etc. to drive to root cause
  • Coordinate with other Kawneer facilities to develop and implement standardized anodize and paint finishing best practice equipment and processes
  • Devise and implement preventative, total productive and predictive maintenance plans to drive equipment reliability to best in class
  • Develop solutions to repetitive failures and other maintenance problems and facilitate root cause analysis support for both electrical and mechanical systems
  • Monitor and report on cost reductions, which are a result of method improvements, in order to improve profit margins.
  • Be recognized as an expert in the finishing area and supporting processes, providing technical guidance to management, peers, operators, etc. in areas of current or potential needs of the facility
  • Train operators on new and existing finishing processes and best practices
  • Daily communication and interaction of issues with manufacturing, maintenance, facilities personnel.


Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Engineering from an accredited university. Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
