Job Summary 
The Financial Analyst/Cost Accountant partners with corporate leaders to provide financial analytics that drive business results in support of the short-term and long-term goals and objectives of the department and the corporation. The position delivers analysis as part of finance, linking financial results to operational performance drivers. The ideal candidate for this position is resourceful, a good problem solver and organized; assuring a steady completion of workload in a timely manner is key to success in this position. Successful candidate will have a strong commitment to ethics and integrity. 

Essential Functions 
Perform cost accounting functions in a manufacturing environment. 
Plans studies and collects data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor, indirect materials, operating supplies and maintenance and repair. 
Support month-end closing activities, including inventory reconciliations with labor and out plant absorption entities. 
Analyzes actual changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided to determine effect on cost. 
Analyzes actual manufacturing cost and prepares periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production cost by job and/or work center.
Provides management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services. 
Compiles and analyzes financial cost information for month-end financial statements. 
Review and make recommendations as necessary. 
Complies inventory analysis on a monthly basis, including LIFO and aged inventory. 
Follow policies and procedures as outlined in Employee Handbook. 

Job Responsibilities 
Assure adherence to GAAP and corporate policies.
Provide decision making support by financial modeling, business case analysis and financial/management reporting.
Evaluate financial implications of specific business decisions/opportunities and advise management accordingly in order to support targeted financial performance achievement.
Create analysis using the business information system to drive the financial performance of the business.
Provide effective and timely financial information, thoughtful business insights/analytics and business performance evaluations to support corporate leader’s effectiveness in creating and executing strategy and operating plans. Evaluate and ensure accuracy of cost of sales, related variances and inflow and outflow of inventory.
Provide analysis and calculations for production costing activities including material, labor, and overhead (actual and standard cost inventory components). Gather, compile and analyze sales, material, labor, and overhead information to be used in annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
Assist in monthly closing process including preparation of financial statements, monthly reporting package, variance analysis, and bridge analysis.
Prepare detail monthly sales spending forecast by partnering with program managers in all financial technical aspects of designated programs.
Report on individual program spending and cost per ship set performance. Provide value added financial information to the respective program managers on a continual basis including material cost, direct hours per shipset by cost center and support hours charged.
Build strategic plan, budget and forecast models. Maintain standard cost system including physical inventory, cycle counts, and excess and obsolete inventory reserve analysis.
Provide support to implement continuous improvement models across the organization.
Support Sector Controller in ad hoc management reports as needed. Review internal controls to assure adequacy including compliance with ASATs. Support the planning and preparation of budget and forecast. 
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Responsible for GL record retention according to Alcoa policies. 
Maintain fixed asset system and coordinate project accounting with other departments. 
Maintain accuracy in standard cost, inventory valuation and control, and suggest or design improvements. Maintain consistency in practices/ procedures followed. 
Actively participate, promote and comply with all EHS programs and policies. 

Qualifications

At least 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment; preferably aerospace.
Hyperion / Oracle Competencies.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of management and employees.
Highly organized and detail oriented; with excellent time management skills.
Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.
