Job Description

The position is in place to help the Lancaster facility maintain overall environmental compliance, minimize and prevent pollution from the Plant, and design systems and procedures to achieve a goal of zero environmental incidents.
Key Accountabilities
LEADERSHIP PERFORMANCE:
•            Provides for the compliant management of the Plant's solid waste.  Specific duties include sampling, requesting and procuring proper analysis methods and interpreting this data for classification.  Where appropriate the incumbent selects and negotiates appropriate waste treatment/storage/disposal facilities, transporters, develops shipment schedules based on regulations and reconciles invoices.
•            Prepares periodic compliance reports for review by the Plant's Environmental Engineer & Manager.  Reports include those related to the major Environmental Law/Regulations impacting the Plant including The Clean Water Act, The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA), the Susquehanna River Basin Commission.
•            Functions as the ISO 14001 lead auditor for internal reviews and maintains the EHS document control.
•            Creates and maintains computer and hard copy files for environmental data and documentation.
•            Performs RCRA, DOT training, prepares toolbox training topics and develops presentations for monthly EHS meetings.
•            Conducts environmental sampling and inspections.
•            Operates Computer systems necessary for data organization, draft report preparation in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Access.  
•            Works effectively with all maintenance and production departments.
•            Communicates verbally and in writing and utilizes good organizational skills.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
•            High School Diploma or GED
•            Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•            Associate Degree in the technical (math, engineering, etc.) or science (environmental, biology, chemistry, etc.) field from an accredited institution preferred.
•            2 years of experience as an environmental or lab technician.
•            Working knowledge of the major environmental regulations specifically RCRA and DOT. 
•            Working knowledge of environmental permits and permitting procedures for air and waste water discharges.
