Arconic Forgings and Extrusions-Lafayette Operations has an opening for an Environmental Engineer.  Our passionate commitment to EHS provides the successful candidate with an excellent environment in which to work. This position is a key member of the location’s EHS team. The position provides extensive visibility in both the plant and business unit. The principal responsibility of this position is to support management of the facility’s environmental media programs such as air, water, waste water, waste, and chemical release to ensure compliance with all environmental regulatory and corporate requirements and values.  
Job duties include but are not limited to:
  • Develops, recommends and implements programs for an environmental media (specifically water) to assure compliance with all applicable local, state and federal regulations including documentation, reporting, permitting, and training.
  • Participates and leads the development of projects to improve program compliance, minimize costs, and investigate, evaluate, and implement new approaches to ensure long term compliance and sustainability of the location.
  • Identifies potential environmental compliance issues/program deficiencies and develop solutions for these issues.
  • Assess environmental impacts/aspects of new equipment and operational changes.
  • Train and coach line organization on environmental issues.
  • Implement and utilize environmental data management systems for water and release prevention.
  • Supports the health and safety function within the EHS team as needed
  • Maintain working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and identify all future requirements that apply, or may apply, to the facility.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution;
  • Minimum 2 years of environmental experience in manufacturing;
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of previous experience in acquisition of permits and interaction with regulators is desired.
  • 3+ years of communication, analytical, problem solving, presentation and human relations skills.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or Environmental Management from an accredited institution.
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal and State EHS related regulations and procedures.
  • Strong communication skills, analytical skills, problem solving and human relations skills.
  • Ability to make difficult decisions with sometimes an incomplete set of data.
  • Critical skills include: Execution, attention to detail, initiative, conflict resolution, customer focus, collaboration, building ownership and commitment, developing others, establishing and direction, drive for change, tenacity, getting organization support and tenacity.
  • Master’s Degree in Environmental, Engineering or relevant field from an accredited institution.
