Job Description

Arconic’s Global Rolled Products (GRP) is looking for an Engineering Superintendent to provide oversight and management of the Engineering team that supports the Ingot Casting and Remelt facilities.  Located in Alcoa, TN, Arconic’s Tennessee Operations is one of the most modern aluminum fabricating facilities in the world.  Our plant in produces high-quality aluminum sheet for the automotive industry and is recognized as an industry leader. The facility has been located at the Foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains for over 100 years.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


Leadership Performance:
  • Lead in a manner that drives the identification, implementation and documentation of engineering best practices.  Connect with other Arconic locations and outside companies to benchmark and share best practices
  • Own the CapEx process and Capital Budget for Ingot
  • Act as the SMART Manufacturing SPA for Ingot to drive technology to meet business objectives
  • Accelerate and manage change in the process, product, and technical resources of the department
  • Act as a liaison between Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance for technical services support
  • Oversee and manage engineering support of plant EHS & ASAT-internal audit objectives and expectations
  Team Development:
  • Coach and develop skills of direct and indirect reports
  • Function as a Manufacturing Engineer for support of the Ingot and Remelt departments
  • Partner with the Human Resources function to establish, coordinate and monitor department-specific people systems (performance management, reward and recognition, compensation, employee engagement, employee development, succession planning, hiring process, new employee onboarding, etc)
 Risk Management:
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities for cost reduction and/or productivity improvements with regards to engineering activities, particularly seeking to improve stability and reliability
  • Reviews PFMEAs for Processes and Equipment to ensure potential risks are mitigated in regard to safety, quality, and equipment reliability
  Critical Competencies:
  • Manage and drive EHS improvements for employees and contractors
  • Demonstrate safe work ethic and promotion of Human Performance (HP) across the department and plant
  • Partner with Procurement to ensure appropriate contracts and service agreements are in place to support the operations


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • B.S. in Engineering from an accredited college/university
  • Minimum of 5 years engineering and maintenance experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • B.S. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited college/university
  • 3 years of direct management/supervisory experience managing a team of Engineers
  • Experience with Ingot casting and/or molten metal
  • Experience in Industrial Reliability and Maintenance systems such as Oracle eAM or other CMMS
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to solve complex problems simultaneously while maintaining competing priorities and timelines
  • Demonstrated capital project management experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
