Job Description

Arconic is currently in search of a Engineering Superintendent to join our Global Rolled Products (GRP) Operations business unit in Texarkana, TX.

This position will be responsible for the entire Texarkana facility, which operates 24/7 and employs a workforce of approximately 90 salaried and hourly employees. The role will be responsible for directing the engineering activities for the Mill’s production and support equipment. Implement and optimize capital expenditure and process improvement programs for Texarkana with the objective of ensuring that plant operations remain in a high state of reliability and stability.

The Engineering Superintendent supervises all of the Texarkana Engineering Staff and Contract Engineers.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

LEADERSHIP PERFORMANCE:

Lead in a manner that drives the identification, implementation and documentation of maintenance and reliability best practices. Connect with other Arconic locations and outside companies to benchmark and share best practices.
  • Own the CapEx process and the Capital Budget;
  • Acts as the lead for all Capital Projects for the facility;
  • Acts as the lead for SMART Manufacturing for the facility and introduces/implements projects using SMART technology to improve plant performance, reliability and stability;
  • Directs all Engineering resources (internal and external);
  • Engage the resources at his/her disposal to meet the focused department objectives set by the executive managers in support of the business objectives. These objectives will be achieved without sacrificing a spirit of cooperation with other areas, so as to not detrimentally impact the vitality of the Texarkana facility.
TEAM DEVELOPMENT:
  • Coach and develop skills of direct and indirect reports;
  • Partner with the Human Resources function to establish, coordinate and monitor department-specific people systems (performance management, reward and recognition, compensation, employee engagement, employee development, succession planning, hiring process, new employee onboarding, etc).
RISK MANAGEMENT:
  • Reviews PFMEAs for Processes and Equipment to ensure potential risks are mitigated when possible with regard to safety, quality and equipment reliability;
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities for cost reduction and/or productivity improvements with regards to engineering activities, particularly seeking to improve stability and reliability.
CRITICAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Manage and drive EHS improvements for employees and contractors;
  • Lead in a manner that recognizes that accident, injury, and environmental incident prevention are equal in importance to production, quality, delivery, recovery and cost control;
  • Accepts the responsibility to work safely and promote safety consciousness among other employees using the tools of Human Performance (HP);
  • Partner with Procurement function to ensure appropriate contracts and service agreements are in place to support the operations.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering;
  • Minimum 10 years of Engineering experience;
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience;
  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
