Key Responsibilities:
Under general supervision the ZHeat Treatment Proceessing Engineer will provide process engineering support and expertise for the production of fasteners. Will address process and product quality issues related to Heat Treatment and Processing, and evaluate and develop products, processes, and equipment based on customer requirements. Responsibility also includes ensuring compliance to all procedures and product/process control. This position involves working with support staff, shift leaders, and the hourly work force.​
  • Completes various metallurgical and chemical procedures of moderate complexity and uses basic engineering principles to specify, develop and optimize processes.
  • May use lab equipment such as mount preparation facilities, metallographs, tensile and hardness testing devices, etc. Analyzes and interprets microstructures to better understand products and materials behavior and performance.
  • Gathers all relevant data, and confirm the measurement systems of the data, in the manufacturing processes; uses the data in the support of designed experiments, failure analysis and problem-solving activity and as a basis for analysis in corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Facilitates material/process related cause and corrective actions.
  • Reviews and implements materials and processing customer specifications while assuring that specifications reflect attainable cost-effective requirements.
  • Develops, evaluates, and improves Heat Treatment and Processing equipment and controls; contacts vendors when necessary regarding new equipment and technology, using knowledge of materials, equipment and operations.
  • Prepares project capitalization funding requests.
  • Provides technical expertise and support to all areas and functions as necessary and as required, and for the use of operator training/coaching.
  • Communicates progress and results through written technical reports, data letters, and presentations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work well as a team to accomplish the company’s goals

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years heat treatment and processing engineering experience
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge in structures/microstructures of materials.
  • Familiar with pyrometric requirements for thermal processing equipment used for heat treatment.
  • Strong communication skills and project management skills.
  • Mechanical and / or manufacturing engineering experience
  • Knowledge of various heat treatment processe
