Arconic is seeking an Electrical Technical Specialist at our Global Rolled Products (GRP) location in Danville, Illinois that is just minutes outside of Champaign/Urbana, IL communities.

Arconic’ s Global Rolled Products division is made up of rolling operations around the world and is the most global group with manufacturing and commercial sites in North America, Eastern Europe, Western Europe, Asia, Australia and Russia.
 
The Electrical Technical Specialist position supports the Aerospace & Automotive Products (AAP) group, a division of GRP.  AAP produces the widest variety of aluminum sheet and plate products in the world.  The mission of AAP is to be the world’s leading supplier of aluminum sheet and plate products. To achieve this goal, Danville manufacturing processes need to be technologically sustainable, cost effective, and able to be continually improved.
 
In this role, the Electrical Technical Specialist will provide leadership and guidance for plant maintenance staff, direct technical electrical support, and provide rapid root cause problem solving, IT support, and capital project support.   
 
Job duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide troubleshooting and electrical maintenance of production equipment; including but not limited to: troubleshooting and programming PLC's as well as variable speed drives and drive control systems
  • Provide technical assistance during equipment outages and breakdowns
  • Provide guidance and training support to the hourly maintenance staff
  • Complete all required IT related self-assessment audits
  • Drive a safe culture throughout all aspects of the job
  • Maintain facility telephone system
  • Manage capital projects
  • Maintain facility drawings to the imaging system
  • Implement predictive and preventive techniques and technology into various production and facility support systems; including vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography, alignment, vision systems and other future technological advances
  • Evaluate and complete recommended computer upgrades, virus definitions and computer system architectural development as the information and technology system requirements change
  • While this position is primarily a 1st shift position, the successful candidate will be expected to be available for on-call responsibilities.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Associates Degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 3 years of experience programming PLC's and troubleshooting electrical systems
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with predictive and/or preventive maintenance technology
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
  • Experience troubleshooting networking, servers and/or help desk solutions
  • Working knowledge of process control systems, architecture, and process communications systems 
  • Working knowledge of combustion safety and troubleshooting burner controls and/or heat treat
  • Experience with SMART Manufacturing and /or experience with using new technology for continuous process improvements
