Position Description:
Arconic is currently in search of an Electrical Predictive Maintenance Technician (PdM Tech) to join our Wheels and Transportation Products division in Cleveland, OH.
The primary roles of the Electrical Predictive Maintenance Technician is to perform Condition Based Monitoring routes and analysis across multiple sites, primarily using Motor Management, Electrical Thermography, and Ultrasonic technologies. This position will be part of the Reliability Department, whose business strategy is focused on proactive maintenance. The intent will be to use these technologies to detect equipment defects early and advise maintenance on which corrective work is required to prevent an unplanned equipment failure.
Major Activities/Key Challenges:
  • Using motor test equipment, perform route-based offline (static) and online (dynamic) motor tests
  • Using Infra-Red equipment, perform electrical and motor thermography routes
  • Using Ultrasonic Examination equipment, perform electrical and airborne ultrasonic routes
  • Access, analyze, and interpret this data
  • Prepare detailed reports explaining findings and listing the recommended corrective actions
  • Work safely around large manufacturing equipment, especially electrical conductors & switchgear, while performing the various tests
  • Comply with all Arconic safety standards
  • Support critical motor startups and installations
  • Participate in root cause problem solving/failure analysis teams to improve equipment reliability and reduce overall assets costs.
  • Using the various technologies, occasionally provide maintenance troubleshooting support for unusual equipment problems
  • Train and educate others on proactive maintenance tools and techniques
  • Coordinate and communicate with the various facilities regarding each plant’s equipment availability to perform required routes
  • Interpret electrical drawings, single lines, and schematics
  • Operate transportation and material handling equipment as required
  • Comply with all OSHA and Plant safety programs, including: LO/TO/V, proper PPE and Arc Flash
  • Champion electrical safety
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Disconnect/Connect ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring and equipment, using testing devices such as ohmmeters and voltmeters, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
  • Check and replace fuses, motor starters, relays, drives, AC and DC motors.


Basic Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 4 years of electrical maintenance experience.
  • Minimum 1-year experience with AC & DC motors and drives and controls, motor control centers, power distribution panels, and electrical starters.
  • Minimum 1-year experience with 120/240/480v single and three phase systems.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
*All candidates that meet the above qualifications must also take an electrical assessment test and receive a qualifying score to be considered eligible for hire.
 Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 8 years of electrical maintenance experience.
  • Expertise with AC & DC motors and drives and controls, motor control centers, power distribution panels, and electrical starters
  • Ability to use most hand and power tools and other tools needed for this position: i.e. amp clamp, volt meter
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, worker that is able to work in a fast paced and often loud production environment.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Thermography, MCA, and/or UE certification
  • Experience performing motor routes using a PDMA, both online and offline
  • Experience in Manufacturing and / or Plant setting;
  • Mechanical background, understanding machinery, i.e. bearings, pumps, valves, etc.
  • Hands-on experience in hydraulics and machine lubrication;
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS);
  • Working knowledge of other PdM technologies, such as Vibration Analysis, Oil Analysis, etc;
  • Computer experience with MS Office Products.
