Job Description

Arconic Cleveland Operations, an aerospace forging facility located at 1600 Harvard Ave., is seeking candidates for an EHS Professional role. The EHS Professional is responsible for determining, planning, coordinating, scheduling and directing health, safety, and environmental activities to ensure regulatory compliance as well as protect human health and the environment. This position reports to the EHS Manager.
Internal relationships include support to engineering, staff, supervisors and other plant personnel. External relationships include contacts with Division/Arconic EHS staff, government representatives, suppliers, equipment vendors, contractors, and others on matters related to EHS. The position will require expertise in Safety and Health with limited Environmental oversight.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Maintain a culture that is aligned with Arconic's EHS goals and objectives, with continuous EHS improvements.
  • Coach and motivate plant personnel to achieve EHS goals and objectives in a timely and safe manner.
  • Act as key EHS liaison with location manufacturing and maintenance organizations, assisting in the execution of their strategic and tactical EHS plans.
  • Assist in the implementation of Health and Safety programs and activities to achieve, maintain, and exceed compliance with relevant regulatory laws and regulations as well as comply with Arconic policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Coordinate location Human Behavior (HP) implementation including Behavior Safety Observation Processes and Critical 9+ compliance audits of employee behaviors and plant activities.
  • Facilitate implementation of Health & Safety systems including Industrial Hygiene programs.  EHS1 – EHS Management System, E2 – E6 Environmental ASATs and Medical Services will be allocated and managed through the Cleveland Operations EHS Team.
  • Participate in investigation teams, as required, to assure prompt, thorough incident review; make appropriate corrective action recommendations and entry into IHS and item closure tracking.
  • Develop, coordinate and/or conduct H&S training programs.
  • Coordinate and assist in the execution of capital H&S projects to ensure compliance with requirements and completion on a timely basis. This includes recommendation of H&S capital equipment purchases and other equipment to ensure compliance with rules and regulations.
  • Lead and assist employee safety teams to understand and own safety and compliance down to the lowest level.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the EHS function.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a health and safety related discipline from an accredited institution
  • EHS experience within a manufacturing setting
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a unionized work environment
  • CIH and/or CSP certification is highly desirable
  • Strong communication skills, analytical skills, problem solving, and human relations skills.
  • Ability to make difficult decisions with sometimes and incomplete set of data.
