Major Activities and Key Challenges:
Manages Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) processes for the Arconic Wheel’s and Transportation Products (AWTP) Business Unit (BU) at the Cleveland, Ohio location.  The position is responsible for directing safety and health activities to ensure regulatory and Arconic EHS standard compliance and successful implementation of EHS management system.   Coaches and provides mentorship to departmental leadership in the execution of EHS accountabilities. 
Responsibilities include:
  • Providing leadership for EHS processes for the AWTP BU.  Position reports to the AWTP Plant Manufacturing Manager and works in a matrix environment with daily connecting with the EHS Team of the Arconic Forgings and Extrusions BU at the Cleveland Works. 
  • The position also works with the AWTP EHS Director to assure alignment with Corporate initiatives.  
  • This position must influence plant leadership, engineering and other support staff to perform at a high level for EHS.   
  • External relationships include contacts with Division/Arconic EHS staff, government representatives, suppliers, equipment vendors, contractors and others on matters related to EHS.  
  • The position will require expertise in Safety and Health with limited Environmental oversight.
    Major Activities:
  • Establish a culture that is aligned with Arconic EHS goals and objectives, with continuous EHS improvements. Spends time on the plant floor being visible and interacting with employees on the EHS Process
  • Manage, direct, coach, lead, and motivate plant personnel to achieve EHS goals and objectives in a timely and safe manner, while continuously striving to improve skills.
  • Planning, directing, and coordinating EHS compliance activities through functional teams, direction of AWTP Manufacturing Mgr. and direction from AWTP EHS Director.
  • Act as key EHS liaison with location manufacturing and maintenance organizations assisting in the execution of their strategic and tactical EHS plans. 
  • Leads the development and implementation of Health and Safety programs and activities for the AWTP plants to achieve, maintain and exceed compliance with relevant regulatory laws and regulations as well as comply with Arconic policies, standards and procedures.
  • Coordinate location Human Performance (HP) implementation including, Behavior Safety Observation Processes and critical safety compliance audits of employee behaviors and plant activities.
  • Facilitate implementation of safety and health systems including Industrial Hygiene programs. 
  • Lead the coordination and completion of designated HS ASAT protocols and overall ASAT process. 
  • Lead investigation teams to assure prompt, thorough incident review; make appropriate corrective action recommendations and entry into IHS and item closure tracking.
  • Identify and develop good working relationships with federal, state and local authorities (i.e., safety agencies, fire departments, etc.) as well as appropriate EHS contacts.
  • Develop, coordinate and/or conduct EHS training programs.
  • Coordinate and assist in the execution of capital EHS projects to ensure compliance with requirements and completion on a timely basis. This includes recommendation of EHS capital equipment purchases and other equipment to ensure compliance with rules and regulations.
  • Lead and influence the Cleveland facility to achieve and maintain a world-class Arconic employee and contractor EHS Processes.
  •  Lead and assist employee safety teams to understand and own safety and compliance down to the lowest level.  
  • Assist in Workers Compensation process at the Cleveland facility.
  • Provides support to the AFE EHS Manager for Environmental Compliance.  Represents AWTP in executing the Site Master Service Agreement. 
  • Participates on the Cleveland Lead Team and provide strategic oversight of EHS.
  • Ensures Management is informed of current EHS issues
  • Coordinates Arconic EHS metrics reporting
  • Coordinates industrial hygiene and occupational health programs.
  • Administers organization's PPE program


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in an EHS or technical discipline from an accredited institution
  • Three years direct experience leading EHS in a heavy manufacturing operation or equivalent experience required. 
  •  This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.  ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder').
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Management experience in an industrial environment preferred. 
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred
  • Seven years direct experience leading EHS in a heavy manufacturing operation or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in Fatality Prevention and Human Performance is desired.
